Through its three main initiatives, Celebrate, Advocate and Educate, Code.org is working to bring computer science classes into every K-12 school in the United States. This talk will cover the successes of the organization over the past year and focus on the district partnership model being piloted across the country in the 2014-15 school year and plans for future growth.
Jake Baskin is the District Outreach Program Manager for Code.org working to bring a comprehensive CS education program to districts like Chicago. Prior to this Jake taught CS at the Chicago Public Schools at Lindblom Math and Science Academy and led professional development for CPS Computer Science teachers. Jake has also worked with Code.org's curriculum team to create a course for the new AP Computer Science Principles course.
While there will be light refreshments available, feel free to "brown bag" it and bring in food from the outside to eat during the social hour.
